BEFORE (right)   This photo from the 1890's is of excellent quality and has been preserved very well. It serves as a reminder of the quality work done by photographers of that day. The main task was to provide additional copies of this photo for family members.  Digitizing and printing photos usually gives results superior to the work of photo labs, where they would make a new negative and then print copies. Digital files are retained by Heirloom Graphics in case additional copies should be needed.

AFTER (left)   Scanning the photo resulted in subtleties of color that don't show well on the low resolution of the computer screen. I chose to leave the color as it was "read" by the scanner, but it could easily have been given a browner tone, or any other color, for that matter.  Because the subject of this photo was my wife's great-grandfather, I added his name and vital statistics to perpetuate his memory. This photo now spans six generations and will likely be passed on to even more. What a great way to promote one's family history!

COST:  This was a personal project so there was no charge.  However, it would have been priced at about $20, including one print.  Additional prints are reasonably priced.
